I am student at the University of Northern Iowa and
associated with the Make A Wish Foundation through UNI. We are promoting the
event called “Swishes For Wishes,” a basketball tournament to help raise money
for Make A Wish of America held on April 20th. Many colleges across
the nation have a Make A Wish Club at their schools putting on similar charity
events for the Foundation. You may have heard or seen each year for a week ESPN
has “Make A Wish” daily special on children who are facing unbelievably
troubling times who get the chance to spend a day with their sports idol. It’s
something that definitely hits home with me as I have had a friend that went chemo and got to meet his NBA idol all made
possible through the Make A Wish Foundation.
It’s a fun event and a really cool way to help out the
children of America, if you haven’t heard of it and would like to get involved
here is a link to Make A Wish’s homepage to find out more details and definitely
check out if there’s a Swishes For Wishes event being held near you. It’s
always good to get involved!
P.S. – put yourself in somebody else’s shoes for a day and
it might surprise you
